Volunteer Opportunities

 

Please donate your time to helping AGS and the PTO. We always have a need for parent volunteers in many areas. Many hands make the work lighter! Contact the indicated person below to volunteer or e-mail us for more information. Listed below are some of our most pressing needs.

Our Board Members serve terms that run April 1 through March 30. Each position will be open for nominations beginning in February for the upcoming school year.

Position Descriptions

 

Spotlight on the PTO: PTO President

What sorts of activities do you do as a volunteer in this position?

  • Preside at all meetings of the organization and of the executive committees
  • Schedule monthly meetings and prepare agendas
  • Ex-officio member of all committees
  • Coordinating the work of PTO Board officers and committees
  • Budget responsibility of $40,000 and co-signer no account
  • Liason between school staff, families, and PTO Board members

Spotlight on the PTO: 1st Vice President

What sorts of activities do you do as a volunteer in this position?

  • Chair the Gator Gallop Committee and Yearbook Committee
  • If the President cannot attend a board meeting, it would be my responsibility to run it

Spotlight on the PTO: Director of Classroom Support

What sorts of activities do you do as a volunteer in this position?

  • Recruit the Room Parent Coordinator and the Art Appreciation Coordinator
  • I also organize the New Family Tours in August and the PTO Coffee on the first day of school
  • In May, I assist the Room Parent Coordinator during Teacher Appreciation Week.

 

Spotlight on the PTO: Director of Ways and Means

What sorts of activities do you do as a volunteer in this position?

  • I work in fundraising. I work with the Board to determine which fundraisers we will do, set the calendar, and oversee the various fundraising committees.

Fundraising is only a small part of what the PTO does, but without it we couldn't do anything else. All the students and teachers at AGS benefit from our fundraising activities and the buying power this gives us. Please consider attending our events. You'll meet new people, renew old friendships, and have a good time!

Spotlight on the PTO: Teacher Representative

What sorts of activities do you do as a volunteer in this position?

  • I represent the faculty of AGS at the PTO Board meetings. I also serve as a means of communication between the PTO and the AGS faculty.
