Book Fairs

A book fair is held each fall and spring to promote reading at home. Classes will be given the opportunity to visit the book fair during the day - and parents are welcome to either meet their children then or send money for their child to shop on their own. If you are unable to join them but would like to shop with your child, you may visit the book fair together during their lunch/recess time or the book fair will be open one evening - watch for more information to be sent home. For a preview of some of the books and items that will be available at the book fair, visit http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/agsgators.

And watch for ways you can help with this great fundraiser - set up, cashier, shopper, advertising, clean up.

Box Tops For Education

Students and their families save box tops with the "Box Tops For Education" logo on them from selected General Mills products like cereal, popcorn, Yoplait yogurt, and more! General Mills donates cash to our PTO in return for them. Last year we made over $600 just for saving these specially marked box tops.

This fundraiser continues all year long. Box tops can be turned in through your child's backpacks or in the plastic bins in the kindergarten hallway.

Cartridges for Kids

We collect used ink jet and laser cartridges (remanufactured cartridges are not eligible) as well as used cellular phones and send them for recycling which results in a donation back to us. Look for collection boxes in the school lobby. Collect your home cartridges and ask your employer to place a collection bin at your workplace.

AGS-PTO Fall Clothing and Toy Resale

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

The 26th annual Clothing and Toy Resale is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, September 16-17, 2011.  The AGS PTO hosts a massive used clothing and toy resale in the gym and multi-purpose room at AGS each fall.  Gently used all-season infant, children, juniors and maternity clothing as well as costumes, outerwear, footwear, uniforms, sporting goods, toys, games, books, children’s furniture and equipment, etc. are sold with a percentage of the sale proceeds benefiting the AGS PTO.  Donations are also accepted.

Volunteers are needed to make this event a success!

Currently we need one or two people to chair the Receiving and/or Set-Up Committee. The Receiving Committee is responsible for checking in sellers during the days/evenings prior to the sale. The Set-Up Committee is responsible for setting up the cloting racks in the gym and the tables on the stage and evenings prior to the sale.

Have some items to sell? Seller Registration is currently underway.

Anyone interested in helping out, registering, or anyone needing more information should contact Barrie McClain at clothingsale at agspto dot org.

Personalized sale tags already prepared with your Seller ID and initals are available - they are a big time saver!

Thank you for your support!

Gator Gold

Gift Cards For All Your Shopping, Dining, Gas, and Hotel Needs!

Gator Gold is a gift card program for major merchants in our area (and on the internet) including restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations, hotels, and other retailers. The AGS PTO purchases these gift cards at a discount and sells them at face value.  The difference is the PTO’s revenue.  This fundraiser costs you nothing more than you would already be spending at places like Jewel, Woodman’s, Panera, Starbuck’s, and Kohl’s, and many other restaurants and retailers.  Thinking about your weekly grocery shopping? Planning an evening out? Need a gift for someone? Planning a trip? We can get all of the major gas station gift cards as well as Marriott, Hyatt, Choice, and Best Western hotels. Please think of Gator Gold for all your shopping, dining, gas, and hotel needs.

To place an order, click here to see what is currently being offered. By clicking on the link, you will be linking directly to our supplier’s order form. If you have any questions about the cards that are offered, please contact the Gator Gold Coordinator using the email link below. You can print the form out, complete it and send it in to school with payment, or email me a list of what you would like to order and send in or bring me payment when the cards come in. If you are not in the current AGS directory, please also put your phone number and child’s teacher on the order form.

Some notes about the new order form

  1. If you want Woodman’s $50 or $100 cards, write it in and indicate the quantity at the bottom. We get those cards directly from Woodman’s, not from Manna.
  2. Darden card is for Red Lobster and Olive Garden.
  3. Options card is for Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic.
  4. Edine card is a group that includes Tribella in Batavia.
  5. Lettuce Entertain You card is a group that includes the Maggiano’s Little Italy in Naperville!

Meijer Community Rewards

If you shop at Meijer and are willing to use a Meijer credit card, cash, or a debit card for your purchases, then you can sign up for Meijer Community Rewards (MCR). MCR is an easy fundraiser whereby a percentage of our eligible purchases at Meijer are returned to the AGSPTO.

Meijer has made some changes to this program as of May 1, 2007. If you already are a MCR participant, you will have to re-enroll. Log onto www.meijer.com/rewards for more information.

The new changes are as follows:

  • Rewards will be earned by using a Meijer Credit Card (1%), cash (0.5%) or debit card (0.5%). Personal checks and non-Meijer credit cards will no longer be eligible.
  • Eligible purchases will include grocery, pharmacy, general merchandise, gas station, convenience store, and online.
  • Rewards will begin on our first dollar spent each month, with no minimum or maximum spending limit.

If you have friends or relatives who shop at Meijer, ask them to enroll in MCR and link their account to Alice Gustafson School. Our organization ID number is 566327.
